My Story
Who am I
My name's Philip (Kai is part of my chinese name), and as you may have gathered, I am a leathercrafter! However, I am first and foremost an avid watch collector and a keen fan of horology.
How I got into crafting
It was during Covid-19 around May 2021 that I saw the Grand Seiko "Kiku" with a custom white alligator leather strap with grey rub-off in the grooves. Needless to say, I searched high and low for a similar leather strap to pair onto my Omega Speedmaster Racing "Panda".
As I researched various leathers, I discovered the closest match which was Himalaya Crocodile, made famous by Hermes and their $300,000 Birkin bag made from the same material.
I contacted another local crafter and enquired as to the price of a custom Himalaya Leather Watch Strap, and was quoted a ridiculous price. A few youtube videos later and a misguided sense of confidence, I said "I'm gonna make that myself".
As exotic leathers are extremely expensive, I had to start selling my crafts in around October 2021 to continue to fund this passion of mine. Thanks to the continued support of many loyal customers, I have managed to grow my leather collection (especially my exotic collection) to the crazy size you see right now on this website!
I personally love crafting watch straps in particular as watches are my passion. I also love meeting my local customers in person, going through the various leather options and brainstorming with them the best possible pairing for their precious timepiece, and finally pairing the strap I made onto their watch and admiring the outcome together with them.
